Lost and Found at 35 by Ankit Jhamb - A Story about Passion and Purpose

About the book

We are constantly threatened by the brutal reality of the arduous battle of mental wellbeing. Why have we come to a point where in spite of living more comfortable lives we are still unhappy, we still long for belongingness and we still crave fulfilment.

Have you dealt with such situations?

Are you still trying to answer the most basic questions of life?

Are these questions beginning to seem like the toughest question paper you’ve ever had to answer?

What makes you happy?

What will keep you fulfilled?

Is there any purpose to being who you are?

On a not-so-fateful night, thirty-five-year-old Arjun embarks on a journey that will force him to rehash, revisit, reimagine and refuel his life. In the next ten days of his life, he meets six strangers who teach him exactly the lessons he needs. He takes the hard route to self-awareness, forgiveness, finding himself, and reclaiming his life from the jaws of his past.

With Lost and Found at 35, immerse yourself in the life-changing story of Arjun and uncomplicate the mystery of living with passion and purpose.

It is not just a story, it’s that symbolic gesture that represents the infamous and sometimes blasphemous quest of mankind for meaning, purpose, and fulfilment.

The life of Arjun is the harbinger of the journey all of us should embark upon.

I looked at the cover and judged the book hoping its a travelogue or something like that, even though its not exactly about travel its a journey of a 35 year old man who felt lost and sets out on an unplanned trip, comes across 6 people in the 10 days time, who in some way answers his questions about life and he retuns back finding his purpose in life. It felt more like a self help book than a fiction, with a mix of emotions, stories, simple things , spirituality and echoes “Live, laugh, love.” through out the book.

Lost & Found at 35 is a life-changing story of Arjun, who embarks on his journey which pushes him to introspect, reimagine, revisit and refuel his life. The writing is easy to understand. Initial chapters are gripping and filled with Pearls of wisdom. Intermediate chapters does seem to be a bit sombre which dilutes understanding the content. But the final few chapters are worth reading. The author's journey, the characters, the experiences, the journey of finding oneself and learning to find meaning to everything makes the book a worth read.

Ankit is a great storyteller. He has communicated a lot of complex ideas, simplified it and weaved it into a story to maintain distance from regular self-help books. My favorite character is Sukoon (since I also draw some parallels from my own son). Overall, this book has been successful for converting me from I-know-and-I-don't-want-to-do-anything to I-want-to-do-something. I started playing more piano after completing the book.
